I'm currently running kodi 15.2 there aren't any issues but there have been updates 16.0, 16.1 and 17 if I update which one should I choose in your opinions.

you should install 16.1.. 17 is not ready yet, and 16.1 is just 16 with more bugfixes and improvements.
