View Full Version : Newbe NEGATIVE considerations about IKS66

As i stated in the title i'm a Newbe.
I never used or bought IPTV ever before.
I was looking for a service that could show me american cable channels.
I could only read two providers here on this board, one was for a whole year (i was not going to pay a whole year without knowing what i was going to get) and IKS66 with the 1 month payment option. GREAT i went with that.
I can say that it started in the worst way possible. They do not accept paypal, i had to pay with one of their chinese services... fine, what could ever go wrong?
I fill up all the details and the transaction ends with a "payment status: array". What in the world?
Several hours later i get an email saying that the payment went through and they gave me my donation code with a hypertext link plus a link to change the MAC address.
NO INSTRUCTIONS WHATSOEVER.
Well, i'm a smart guy, i'm talented enough to google for some instructions. WOW!!! I think i have found more than 100 different instructions for the same provider and none of them worked.
Besides this i tried to change the MAC address but at the beginning nobody told me it has to start with 00:1A so i kept putting my computer address!!! Guess what? After a few tries the system blocked me for 24 hours.
Long story short after the 24 hours i finally set up a MAC address that worked and after a couple of sleepless nights i was able to retrieve the channel list.
My opinion? A SERVICE TO DISCARD. I'm so happy that i only paid one month.
- The customer service does NOT exist, they never reply to emails.
- Lack of simple and effective instructions.
- I haven't checked all of the 800 channels they say to have but from what i was able to understand half of them do not work.
- The majority of those channels are in Spanish
- There are no American channels. (i mean there are a couple but nothing worth paying for).
So if you are considering buying this service to get all the cable or satellite tv channels... simply don't.
Save your money to eat at the restaurant, it's money better spent for sure.

wow !!
All you had to do was read the iks66 sticky thread.
The IKS66 site also has a direct link to this site posted. That is so you would be able to find help for anything you may need help with.
I do not know what channels you are looking at either, but you are wrong on that too

Hi Crazed, thank you for your reply.
Indeed i did. But probably you have not considered one factor.
When you are a newbe in something you don't fully understand what others are talking about so the best you can do is to follow instructions as written.
Now that i begin to understand something about this world i can understand a little more easily the instructions, even tho the instructions given in the sticky threads are too many and too confused.
There is no tutorial, it's just a bunch of info written there but considering the amount of ppl complaining all over the internet (payments, authentications, authorizations etc...) i would say there must be something true.
Btw about the channels, since i'm wrong on that TOO do you want me to make a list of the non working channels? I can spend a few hours doing that and make a stat of about what i get of the 800+ channels decleared.

Nothing wrong with being a newbie, we are newbies at certain times in our lives.
I have to agree 100% with you on the service part of it. It has been very inconsistent lately and it makes it so hard for new folks to understand what's going on. Someone else will come and replace IKS66 if this continues I'm sure.
There are no American channels. (i mean there are a couple but nothing worth paying for).
I'm not sure what hidden US channels you are trying to find. Let's see, IKS66 has NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox, Disney, CNN, TVland, WGN, USA, History, Comedy Central, Lifetime, Food channels, HGTV, numerous sports channels (ESPN's, Fox's, etc.), A&E, SyFy, TLC, AMC, TCM, IFC, FX, FXX, TNT, TBS, Nick, Discovery, Nat Geo, Destination, Chiller, MSNBC, Weather channels, several locals, Spike, Tru TV, ION, several HBO's, several Max's, several Showtime's, several Movie channels, several Encore's, several Starz, and more.

Well, i'm with iks66 for almost 4 months. Yeah, during this time I saw some issues, like channels down and service down as well, but it always came back normaly.
I don't understand why you say that there is almost none american channels, in my case, I watch every day channels like: ABC, NBC, ESPN, Fox, NFL Network, CBS Sports, NBC Sports, TNT, USA Network, MLB Network, AMC, FX, Fox News, CNN and many others. All of them up and running for the most part. So, I believe you're not setting up your IPTV correctly.
For $12 a month, I say this to you: Very worth it, in my case.

To be honest with you guys the reason why i subscribed this kind of service is to be able to see TruTV. I normally watch TruTV and the Travel Channel but the travel channel can be found freely elsewhere.
Different thing is for TruTv. Pay attention that in the UK they have a lot of the same channels (same names) just with different shows. This happens with TruTV, Bravo, the Travel Channel, Cartoon Network and with some others.
Back to my problem with trutv the only trutv that i was able to find is TruTV America Latina, channel 527.... and does NOT work.
Any advice?

being a guy that was around for most of the good times, and some of the bad times, it's actually nice to see that this service is still going after a couple years out of the scene.
It is pretty sad if the only channel you were looking for is True TV, and since you couldn't find it, you claim there are no US channels. Well, True TV is there. It is 150 on your PVR; officially channel 242. It is working fine here.

No Ilan it's a bunch of things together as i explained at the beginning, not just one channel not being there.
Indeed i agree TruTv is on 150, somehow i skipped that. Even tho the quality of the stream is questionable i was able to see it. Problem is, and here i will make my point that i was able to watch it for about 45minutes, then the whole thing froze and now it has an authentication problem everytime i start Kodi (i swear i didn't change anything).
It may be a problem with Kodi and not with the server but really, nothing went straight. Can i be disappointed?

This isn't a cable TV provider that you pay $100 + a month... If you are expecting to pay what we are a year and have great customer service.. All the channels with no problems go back and pay for a subscription as this isn't for you... With this service things go up and down, if you don't know how to setup you equipment and software you will have issues... If you don't want to have issues and be bothered to read and learn this isn't for you... Also there isn't a complaint Department!!!!

easy now mate take this pill, I use them myself in these situations lol. dont let this crap get on your nerves.
@op, this is a support forum where we help each other, iptv66 have nothing todo with it. you can take your complaints elsewhere.

I am afraid you guys didn't read the whole thread.
I will recap for you. I have read several different contradictory informations/instructions/opinions.
Of course my tone sounds polemic, i am a little bit but i have my reasons.
Pod77 i agree with you, i'm not expecting a customer care line ready to assist me on the phone, but an email in response to my questions wouldn't have been so bad. Even if i can imagine now the amount of emails they get, easy to understand why they don't answer.
Anyway i highly doubt that ppl come here knowing already how to setup their equipment. I'm happy to learn something new.
Once again now i'm having this authentication problem and i'm reading different methods and none of them work.
My complaints are for those like me buying a service like this for the first time, it may be good so that they can choose a better service (like maybe the $100+ a month?).
I perfecly understand that this forum has nothing to do with iptv66 but it has a whole section dedicated to it.
And i apologize if some of you are upset about this.

Because for how wrong it may sound untill i was done (that i could see the tv channels) it was my problem.
Infact i eventually made it there.
Then why asking for help when there are already different topics about?
Different story now, i think i'm going to ask for help if i don't fix this authentication problem within tomorrow. I will start another thread tho. Without complains this time :D

And do know that iks66 is well supported, one of the best supported these recent months.
I know this because I see to that personally, or try to.
I do that because of the recent issues iks66 website has gone thru.
I am here to even the scale and get you guys what you need from iks66 :)
Seems the issues have settled down quite alot thou in recent days. Not near as many members been sending me messages with MAC or iks66 code issues lately.
Which is a good thing, means the server admin been ontop of things.
ANd to the fella that said IKS66 will be replaced by someone else... ummm that is not gonna happen.
Thnx again tuononero for coming back to this thread and giving us that update :)

It seems like i fixed the issue. The problem i had seems to be related to the TV settings. I had the "synchronise channel" activated and the "Use channel order from backend(s)" deactivated.
Modifying it like in the picture did the trick.

You have a plethora of information on how to set this up on this forum, and you made the mistake of buying and expecting everything to magically work.
This is not IPTV66's fault.

Have to agree though on the part of a newbie hell when it comes to tutorials... There is no "one" tutorial to read a set up. You have to read 10 tutorials to get startet, and nowhere does it say in which order to read them. Of course, it all makes sense when you actually read them all and figure it out, but for a new guy (yes, i'm discriminating haha) its a hell to figure out. I'm sure less technological guys than me have tried to get this to work and ended up with a question in the forums.
Cant complain on the people/machines "working" the forums though, like Crazed, do you people even sleep? Without that bunch, most newbs without a master in IPTV would drop out a long time ago, thanks. :D

in my opinion, there should be deletions of old info- posts ,that are outdated and irrelevant and have only the pertinent ones and valid ones up to date that work now, in an area thats easy for computer illiterate
people to access and understand as things change so quickly in this biz and people start to think its much harder than it actually is.
one click help access would increase customer service and increase sales for sure , just one mans thoughts .....
thx

members posts of present and past do not get deleted, so that will not work
Sticky threads work.
Discussion threads mostly work.
Lots of the issues are that a thread gets started and soon is off track slightly and that multiples and on and on. Pretty soon you have a thread with 500 posts , but the topics vary. And with these Kodi Stalker discussions, we know that can happen very fast.
Very hard to moderate that if not caught right at the start.
In a perfect world each thread would be titled exactly what it is about and no content in that thread other then topic.
Sorry, that aint gonna happen, try as we might and as we all would luv to see, but will not happen :(

hi..
@ tuononero ..for me i can understand your stress, i have been in iks & iptv..for years now ...could be 12 or 14yrs..in the hu_card/card reader days.. also testing with vlc streaming 8 yrs ago, most of which were all new at first..but after time and experimenting ..it all gets easier to understand..new problems may arise because of new equipment/compatiblily/programming and protocols, but we all learn from trials and errors.. and we post little notes on how to make things easier for others..but also remember this is a learning and building process also, not every one likes to be spoon fed.
from the years of testing..building satellite dishes & head-ends..i have my own home brew iptv and vod server.. And i still use nfps,iks66 services.. which is still great compared to others advertised.
i hope you understand what i'm saying...possibly im just ranting.. ;P

i kinda agree. i'm new to IPTV and trying to find a sub with mainly UKTV, ideally 7 day catchup and all the sports. trying to get an answer into which supplier can do what is a nightmare, both on here and from ik66, rocket and nfps. no response and i'm here cash in hand waiting to sign up. frustrating.

eddyvedder, seems no one has tried that catchup APP with the service.
I doubt it would work thou as I think that APP is sponsered by Apple and therefore prolly will not work with a umm slightly unapproved IPTV service
There is some UK TV on this service. You should look in the service Sticky thread=s and you would see a sticky thread of current channels.
You should have done that days ago my freind
Remember, most info is here and in correct forum areas, but you have to open the forum areas and check the threads, mainly the sticky threads.
Sub forum headings and sticky threads in them sub forums are in place and in order.
You wanna know something about iks66, look in the iks66 sub forum and look at the sticky threads. If channel list is not there, look in Rocket sub forum.
It is not easy keeping the massive amount of info organized and in correct place but the sub forums do have the info
If looking for Movie opinions, look in the movie section
If looking for info on service channels, look in the services sub forums.... :)

thanks Crazed. i have seen that they all have UK TV but with me not being in the UK i need catchup due to time difference. there are resellers out there that have the 7 day TV guide you can go back and watch previous days TV but not sure if this is standard with NFPS, Rocket, IKS66 or is an addon that the resellers have setup on their own if you know what i mean

it is not a standard with those 3 servers.
It is an APP that is implemented after the fact.
If a reseller can do it, then anyone should be able to.. Why not download the APP and investigate its functionality ?
The fact is with IPTV almost everyone is a newbie bc its a new and evolving thing . Its another language just the same as learning how to use a computor was in the begining.Ask a lot of questions, read a lot nd try to stay current . If you want a point and click system and pay 200 a month then theres a lot out there to choose from .

recording IPTV channels is a big no no in the providers eyes, worse even then dating their daughters and keeping them out too late.
You will not find much info about recording Live IPTV content, which is by design.

sure i understand the recording no no, but how would i setup catchup 7 day TV without having a) an external hard drive and recording everything b) a big ass server thats recording several channels 24/7 so i can 'catchup' so to speak.
i've tried reading forum posts, stickys and even reached page 8 of google..PAGE 8!! all of page 8 in google is in russian!! thats how deep page 8 is.... and i've found nothing to show me how to setup 7 day catchup TV on specific channels.

As he said that option isn't offered on the servers! With that said we don't know how it would be setup that's why you can't find a guide on how to do it........

I have ooked through the site, seen the tips.
Its all over the place.
Give up to date tutorial and links for downloads and PVR and Services to load and the info needed and where to put it.
Please put a link to a place that is kept current and correct and takes you step by step.
Make it easy....you will get less hassles and more customers.
The stickies at the top of each subforum do that. The directions for configuring PVR Stalker NFPS, PVR Stalker client, IPTV Stalker Papiao and EPG Updater are all current.
