View Full Version : MAG v Kodi?
Toying with the idea of just getting a Magbox to run alongside the box I use for Kodi as the PVR client is an awful lot of faffing about whereas reading the instructions to set things up on a Magbox looks relatively easy.
Anybody made the switch and have any input?

i made the switch from kodi to Mag250. The set up i had was amazon fire tv (not the stick) with kodi and iptv stalker, at first it was great then i would get a lot of buffering, i did however have a mag250 from a previous subscription to a uk sever (the box was given free with subscription) my sub had ran out for the uk sever so i restored it back to factory settings, and then installed rocket to the mag250 and its running perfect nice guide nice picture had a couple of minor freezes but nothing major, only draw back to having two boxes is i had to get a internet switch so i can have them both hooked up online at the same time. if i had to do the switch again i would.
You will definitely find the setup very easy for the MAG boxes. There have been some new MAG boxes announced so find out the price and features before buying. I own the MAG254 and am very happy with it but have also heard good things about AVOV products.

It is not possible to compare pears with apples.
MAG 2хх is an Linux IPTV STB box, but AVOV is Android box using STB emulator.

The mag 254 has more mammary that is all I can tell u I have never had a mag 250 the mag 250is chipper
I know it's cheaper, I was just wondering if the 254 was worth the extra money. I know you can compare the specs online but I figured if there's no major tangible difference when you're actually using the equipment...
Well I've bitten the bullet and ordered a 254. Hopefully it'll be as easy to set up as it seems and I'll have no issues (or as close as you can get with this kinda stuff). :)

I am sure you will be happy, the setup is extremely easy
It'll be with me tomorrow (was meant to be today but nobody was home to sign for it while I was at work) so I'll give my thoughts on the box in comparison with Kodi then. :)
I love the MAG 254. :)
Very user friendly and as I expected, very easy to set up! much easier than faffing about with Kodi settings. Really like having an actual remote too as opposed to my Amazon Fire TV remote, which also suits my family better. :)
Would highly recommend if anybody is even considering it.

Compare kodi and mag254 well i have struggled with kodi addon for since start. My connection is good but would start buffering jittering restart ok for 1hr so after few months i pulled trigger and it has been running non stop for days. Paid donation money well spent.

OK so it must be my rocket service that makes mine crap, ok all the internet resetting, plugging and unplugging, the best feature for it would be to have an automatic iptv reset.
