Any information available? from Barbados

Believe we are been blocked by Flow, an article in sunday sun.

I just purchased a VPN, downloaded it to see if I would be able to reconnected to MAG.254 I am not very sucessful. I downloded the program to my computer, do I have to put any information in the MAG setup or will it upload automaticaly. Still have the black screen. I restarted the mag and I reset IPTV on Papiao.

Will appreciate any help.

Thanks

If the Mag does not have an option for VPN in its setup section then the best advice would be to get a router that supports vpn in its setup. Some VPN services claim that they have windows software to intercept all attached devices and stream through their vpn.

Thanks for the information, I just checked the settings on MAG 254, there is no option for VPN, but the service I purchased claim that they intercept all attached devices through windows.

I am still trying.

dont believe everything you read..they all claim this or that...as for your vpn if they can hide via a pc they can on any device that streams providing you have a setting to enter the info or an APP ie; PIA ...you can do the router thing but more of a hassle and the stream buffers more than not..imho

Many VPN providers have their android apps listed on various places like Google Playstore, Amazon and others but you could check with your VPN provider, see if they have an android app listed and where to go to get the app. Try installing the app first and then try and do a setup as the application might just work with your box. If not, then it won't be from the lack of trying.

P.S. Whenever you are connected, it will slow your flow through to some degree which may initiate buffering .......not good for streaming if it does.

It would be nice to cut flow, so far thats allwe have, no competition.
Think papiao.is will eventially add a vpn to their service? of course for an additional cost at least for those who wants it.

I checked with informir regarding VPN for the MAG254 and was told all model STB MAG* supports only VPN PPPoE PAP Authentication
I don't know how to apply this to the setup. If any one knows how to apply this please give me some advise.

The VPN provider gave the following instructions.

Does the box support VPN? If yes configure PPTP VPN by entering server address e.g. us1.central.vpn.zoogtv.com and your username/email and password.

Should I enter this information in the server address NTP server replacing: pool.ntp.org

I am totally out of my league here. looking for an expert.

As already mentioned. Get a second router that supports VPN. Get it setup and connecting to your VPN service. Then go in to the mag and manually setup your network connection and use the VPN router as your gateway. Then the mag will rout all internet traffic through the VPN router. The mag does not need to have VPN support for this to work.

going through a router is the only way and follow your VPN's instructions to add to router settings but googling is better to find experts since your box obviously won't support a VPN but ONLY a VPN app will work...never understood why peeps buy these mags what with all other streamers having access to google apps...

that in mind, you'd be better off buying another cheap(streamer) box that runs on android to have access to apps (inc VPNs)

imho, fiddling around with a router to run a vpn is more than a hassle and conflicts with the flow at will...but don't buy a cheap router if you go that way but ask the experts' in chat boards not on this site

I doubt I would qualify as a network expert but I do see a possible way of getting around the VPN app and its not connecting issue. Get a used wireless router, nothing fancy as the Vixo 2 operates on the 2.4 ghz band. Set the used wireless router up as an access point, install the VPN on it and connect the Vixo 2 to the router. Once the router is up and running, it will automatically connect to the VPN server and your AVOV will be connecting through the VPN server. By going this route, you can hardwire it to the used router so your internet provider can and will be blocked and locked out of whatever you're connecting to.

Any box will work ........used router is set up as an access point which connects automatically to a VPN server, the location of the VPN server is pre-selected from the list of servers on the VPN network. The access point, ( used router), is always on and always connected to the pre-selected VPN server so whatever box, pc or device connected to this access point will be connected to the internet via the VPN server. Hope this clarifies things. Set up the router as an access point, follow directions provided by the VPN provider on setting up a router to use their service.
This is relatively simple and easy for most novices to follow, they have online help if needed or most do.

P.S. The mag or any box, PC or device can be hardwired to this used router,(access point) and it connects to the internet and the VPN server through the main router.
