Bumping up a KK started thread. I am up almost every night into mornin coffee. Comes from the years of going for days with little sleep and the magnetic aura monitoring you develop. It has dulled with time, like the eyesight, hearing, and the stamina does for the oldsters. I can sometimes drive for miles on a twisting road and get out and not know which way I am facing for a while, that proves to me I am getting old and loosing some of the edge. Well daylight is fading, the nightbreed are stirring and the day only breed are fading into their hideouts. All of you nightbreed talkers stop by and open up a dialogue. I will come by once a week or so just to see what is up in the witching hours.

we are currently experiencing one of the worst electric storms I have seen in my life !
It started late this afternoon and has carried on into the night .
One my way home from work , which are highway miles with no city lights to be blinded by, so on my way home it was a show all around me with Lightening of all types, Some seemed to be sheet lightening, some seemed to be inside clouds and act like a boiling cauldron, some was fork lightening from the ground and that stuff was intense and some was lightening bolts that crossed the sky, and again so frigging intense. I was actually quite frightened.
On the way to work while it was still light out, there were some strange and extreme cloud formations and I knew we were in for a long night of storms.
I am not embellishing any bit at all, this is one of and probably the worst and most intense Electrical Storm I have ever witnessed.
I been hit by lightening once about 6 years ago, or maybe 8 years ago.
I never actually was hit directly but the machinery that was next to me was hit and I at that exact same time touched the machinery with a wash gun wand and received a jolt like I have never felt before, it was so much pain all at once....I never want to feel that again !
I can feel the electricity in the air tonight and it scares the hell outta me

12icer
08-13-2020, 08:09 PM
I don't blame you for that, I got bit by a 220 volt line and it hurt like hell, I had one friend duck under a tree in a storm and the tree got hit it burned him like he was cooked in an oven he died instantly. Another got hit in a boat fishing, and it blew holes as big as a half dollar in his heels, lost most of his hearing and made his sight dim. He had burns all along the path. He was on enough Morphine to just about kill a person just to keep from writhing in the pain. He never recovered enough to work or do much of anything after it. Yeah I don't blame you at all Bro, I don't like it either. Electricity is a bad thing when it gets loose, I was sitting in my car at the corner of Germantown Road, and HWY 64 in Germantown, TN, and a tie line came loose from one of the cable TV or phone lines about 4 0r 500 feet from me, The little tie line hit the 7200 line and arced them, the flash was so hot It felt like having your arm an inch from a welding flash through the rolled up glass at 4 to 500 feet. Hide from that stuff man, It has been SUPPOSED to rain here for days but I finally Just pin holed a few buckets and filled them up for the garden. Keep safe and well my friend.

I used to be in the bowling alley In Corinth MS. shooting pool and listening to Creedence on the Juke box for hours at a time when this first came out. Ah to be that young again!!!! well just for the country to be like that again.

It was Corinth, MS., Pickwick Dam, TN. , Guys, TN. , Selmer, TN, , Adamsville, TN. , Memphis, Nashville, TN, Atlanta, GA, Birmingham, Florence, Mobile, Guntersville and Huntsville, AL. Then we all went to New Port Richie, Fla Stauffer Chemical, The WP ponds you know. Daytona, then Jax beach. driving super stock built Mustangs, Chevelles, Chargers, Road Runners, Camaros, GTOs, GTX's all got about 8 to 10 mpg. A lot died in the process. Lost quite a few friends to late night wrecks at three digit rolling. Keeping the Mississippi and the Tennessee rivers hot. Life for the generations that followed were never as easy as open roads and 100 plus runs for hours. Live while it's worth living my friends, It can all be gone anytime, and we may all be driving Yugo's.

Some day soon I am going to find my place of peace and sunshine, I seem to be running uphill all the time, and never get any closer to just doing what I want to do. I think I just want to go fishing on a 30 foot cabin style tritoon with a quiet generator a couple of good batteries a couple of 250 horse Hondas and a couple of good high thrust trolling motors. Ill tow a dingy with a three wheel Honda interstate, A good fridge and I can stay out for a couple of weeks at a time. Put in at Boat Harbor in Decatur and run west to Crossroads MS. hit the Tenn-tom to Bay Springs come back out head west to Pickwick, go to the Land Between the Lakes for a long stop Get ready for the trip to Paducah and The banks of the OHIO, and finally the Mississippi at Wickliffe, New Madrid, ALL the way to Memphis and stop at every place Then comes the real trip all the way to NO and The lake. Got kinpeeps at Covington, La. take a long time to get there and probably have to build a foot or two and change some props, but I won't care a bit, I could die in a tent on the river bank and not mind the passing. Too bad the water isn't like it was when I was a kid it was so clear you could open your eyes if it hadn't rained and got muddy and you could see all the way to the bottom if you were on the shelf of the shore. Find your happy place talkers, it is the only way to peace.

Yeah 4me we have a new litter of 8 kitties we have to find some kids who need a pet. We have one that has a URI that has cost us 70 dollars. One of my neighbors died of cancer a little over a year ago, and his menagerie was bout 50 cats and a dozen dogs. when his family removed most of them the ones they left came to the house and my wife started feeding them they were about 6 little ones, no one wanted them and they grew up coming by to get food here. There were two females and they have had two litters this year, the first was 7 and it cost us 160 dollars in medicine and vets to watch them all die of a URI. This time only one has it and so far we are keeping him getting better a little at a time. It will be cheaper to have the females spayed and a lot less stressful than trying to keep all of the offspring going. Well my friend it's late or early if you just got up like me, I am getting in the morning shower to wake up or get ready for another sleep. Be safe and watch for the leftist they are extremely dangerous to all normal peeps.

Yeah living in Memphis when I was just out of Junior college, I went to all of the places that were wide open then and you could move around witout geting killed Jerry lee came to Bad Bobs and the Rendezvous all the time. If he was drunk he would play and sing, the best place to ever open in Memphis was Solomon Alfred's It was a big multi stage wide open venue, One of the people that came there pretty often back then was a little blonde girl that had a real big voice, She was a real knockout in more than one way Deborah Allen. Solomon Alfred's had a Country stage and a Rock stage with a small folk music balcony that had mostly duos and singles. Big game room and dance floor. Kids now don't know what life could be if they just knew what it was like to be in the rock and roll generation. The closest thing I have seen is the super concert series like they have in Europe and some bigger venues like around Atlanta and Nashville. Rockstar energy Mayhem festival was kind of like some of them, but the music was pretty much headbanger stuff. The larger European festivals are much better musically like Avici, Scorpions, ETC. I really like some of the newer tunes but I despise any form of rap. I didn't even like country rap songs much. The phantom 409 and things like that are okay, but they are not from singers. I like real singers not bill anderson.

This is Mayhem day 25 in Memphis. AT 2:36 and the opening picture the character with his hand raised and the yellow arm band is my youngest son with one of his friends the big one with the camera to HIS right. Turn down the sound the music they play for the video is VULGAR.

The first time I saw Buddy was at a college performance of Black Oak. I bought a lot of guitar parts and guitars from him at the Guitar Center off of Stage Road and Germantown Pkwy in Germantown TN. The last time I saw him he said his cancer had come back and he was not going to be working for a while, It was about a year before he died. My grandson has A Gretch dark mahogany with gold hardware and a gold Bigsby Tremello, It is a real Guitar. Buddy had an old yellow Gibson I don't know what year 335 or 345 I had all the battle scars on it and he sold that at Guitar Center If I had any idea he would leave so soon I would have sold the house to own it. The history of something like that is priceless. I told him he needed to keep it when I saw it in the back room. But he didn't say yes or no we just went on to something else. He was a nice, humble, wonderful person and one of the best string benders to pick up a guitar.

When I lived and worked in Memphis there were a lot of musical groups there, And a lot of really good nightclubs. It was never a surprise to see some well known musician or singer come into some of them. I don't know it to be true but I would guess Buddy Church played with all of them some time or other. I remember seeing a lot of them in Bad Bobs Vapors, Hernando's Hideaway and Charlie Vargas Rendezvous, The clubs moved out of central in about 1980 or so and more to the east, but the some of the old ones are still there. They redid Beale street and it is nothing like the old clubs that used to be there, It is all tourist stuff same as New Orleans was before THE Hurricane. All of the old real things that made the places what they really were are gone along with the people who everybody knew and loved that ran them. They made money, and they had money But a wino could get a little to eat out the back door anytime even after hours cleanup. Different times my friend Be safe and watch the crazies out there.

Morning coffee is not so good today, just got word another old friend has left us. Frank was around 50 a Veteran of a few tours in Iraq and his knees were crushed when the Humvee he was in pinned him after it ran over an IED. He Never stopped though he had many demons with a bad case of PTSD. He was a member of the Operating Engineers and a very good fearless Operator he would climb an excavator up a mountain and hang by the boom to work. His Father died about two years ago and his was the largest crowd I have ever seen at any Funeral it looked like a Capitol Rotunda wake. It took me two hours to get to the casket and I came pretty early. There were peeps outside filling the entire area around the Funeral home. That is a record for an 80 year old persons funeral.

On a better note 4me that is a really good song for the times very relevant to everything going around. All you talkers take care of yourself and keep safe. I think this has been posted somewhere on the forum but the song is just part of the story, This cover is a complete change of direction from the NIN song.

Nine inch nails should have made more of this song, the Master in Black hit it out of the park.

I have a video somewhere of him playing This alone on the stage in the store with people walking all around it was the last time he played before dying the next day.

Oh well, It is hard to tell from the site. I guess some peeps have nothing better to do. When I was pretty young We lived over on the Piedmont Plateau close to Winston Salem, NC. When we would travel the old highway going through Boone NC around the Watauga Lake area there was an Archeological dig going on and they were digging up a large Indian Burial site that had been discovered during a construction project to widen the Highway and build an interchange. It was amazing to see the square foot string grids and the square with 1 inch grids they used as they went from 1 foot grid to 1 foot grid. The archeologist used soft brushes cleaning every thing, photographing and cataloging every little fragment of pottery, bone, tools or whatever was buried with each person and the position they were buried in. They were buried with legs crossed and arms folded. Everything was placed in the same order in every grave. The areas they were buried in were defined by their standing in the tribe and their family group. Good thing to watch but makes you wonder who will be looking over our bones and cataloging our crazy graveyard scheme. Indians were an intellectual and resourceful coalition of humans. They were fiercely Honorable and Loyal, They were also more civilized that most of the whites they met in their homelands. Too bad it cost them their entire way of life. Every time I watch the show Alone I think of how fragile modern man is and how easy it would be to kill ONE of us as compared to any member of a 1700s Plains Indian family. My paternal Great Grandmother was a full blood Cherokee Chiefs Daughter. I respect the greatness of the all the Tribes because they TRULY deserve it.

Night Owls take control of your health before you get too old to or it goes to far to fix. CANCER, heart disease and respiratory illness take out most of the people who die. If you are over 50 have all the tests run you can every four or five years. DO a good diet and exercise daily.

was that Sonny and Cher !!!??

My 75 year old Dad just bought a 'stable' machine. Its a Polaris 4 wheel drive , two seater.
Get in and hang on !!!
That's what my dad said to me. And of course had to first do up the 4 point harness.
Then we went.

I knew I should not have went. I know my dad.. he is frigging off the wall !!!

That Polaris launch off a corner at speed and the left front end left the ground with the torque holding down the inside tires on the right side !!
I was well impressed.
My dad said... you ain't seen nothing !

Yeah I have seen the singles, It would be hard to climb to the top if the hill I live on in a single speed. I do have an old Huffy bike with a two speed automatic in it. It is a low low and a pretty high overdrive. I have had it since 1961. The old bike is worn out, but the rear is okay. Coaster brake, half turn back to shift gears.
Crazed, I don't know how they go through the woods that fast, I watched a video of a couple of peeps riding a trail through tight places and getting big air on a new can-am turbo, I wouldn't even think about getting in the thing, they were missing big trees by inches three feet off of the ground and probably at least 60 MPH on the straights they were close to 90 I'm sure. I may be wild but I don't want to be broke up for the few years an old man has left. I love speed, no top end, but I don't like the idea of living in a hospital bed..

Just getting older fast with being a partial hermit. The area I live in has a about 30 current running cases with a 50 spike when a nursing home was infected. Thing is some of the counties around are filled with cases. Alabama and Mississippi are both showing more new infections than at any time, I haven't done a Tennessee yet. I got sidetracked by a lottery ad. Peeps just wont wear the mask, and those of us who do are at their mercy because their sneezes and even breath can deposit virus on some types of surface that last for nearly fifteen hours. with the cold that will be much longer. I don't think the 6 feet is nearly enough, ponder the smoke ejected from a smokers mouth when he exhales and see how far it is carried on a slight breeze. I have seen it go over twenty feet.

Yeah morning coffee is good and bad today we are all clear on the covid still, but my sons Manx cat is 14 and has her own little house out back, we always keep her lots of food and water and she has heat ac etc. Son has been gone and we haven't been out for a couple of days because of closing on a different house. He went out and she is really sick like she has had a heart attack or stroke. I think she is done, the vet is checking her out now and I think she will put her down. She was just barely old enough to be weaned when she came to us. She has always been mean as all get out and scratched me good quite a few times. She would play catch and chase like a dog. Oh well Morning coffee won't be the same with her gone. Pets can really break your heart even when they are mean cats. Vet says dehydrated and potassium is really high, on IV and staying overnight, the NITE will tell if she will make it for a little while longer. Hope so!!

She is still at the vet , but they said they ad to wear welding gloves to clean out her cage, I hope that means she is getting back to her old self. Mean as a snake but loved dearly. We will have to stay on top of her care after this she is 14 years and 6 months so she is 101 in our years. she has had a easier life, but not really better in my mind as she has not been out running free nearly enough. maybe she will make a few more years, but we got a preview of how much she means to us scratches and all. We closed on that other house today and went up there and the person we bough it from took the island from the kitchen she said was going to stay. Pissed us off, but we didn't set up the three day out so we just have to take the screwing. Have a good NITE my friend we are going to be in bed and out soon I hope.

Missed NITE OWLS last night, Went down pretty quickly last night after a whole afternoon and after dark cleaning session at a house, Son went to visit kitty at the vet, she is still on Iv has eaten very little and just a small amount of water. Does not seem as if she will be able to make it without all that and she is wobbly and her eyes are not moving very quickly when you move from side to side with her. probably bring her home Tomorrow and see how she does, but I am going to build her a box and take the Post hole digger and be ready for a funeral. Gonna pour concrete in the hole and seal her in after. Put up a marker "EWOK the Queen of Cats". Be safe my friends and keep away from those people who refuse to wear a mask Just shun them if they had plague, THEY DO and are putting your health and life at risk.

Being Wobbly can also bee a Symptom of Feline Leukemia and I don't know if there is a cure for that or not... Had a Maine Coon over 20 Years ago, called Him "Spooky", He came down with it, Finally had to put Him to Sleep... One of the "Worst Days of Me Life"... Looked close to this one :

My son named this one Ewok because Star Wars was big at the time. She would play catch like a dog but was always a moody cat, and she did not like to have her head touched or her sides, back or stomach rubbed like most cats do. She was good with a little pat or rubbing under the chin. She could jump from the floor to the top of a chest of drawers about 5.5 feet or so with no effort. She Is a Manx no tail no button, all black. I just hope my son gets over it if and when she dies she has seen him through a lot of trying times. Pets can get people through times that no human friend can. Be well and get some good sleep my friend. NITE OWL and Sandman coming soon.

Ewok gave up the spirit today she was loved as a member of the family and will leave a large hole. We built her a box of two by twelve framing timbers tonight and will use the 12 inch post hole auger to dig her a deep grave tomorrow she will be encased in a poured concrete vault and sleep with no sound to disturb her she was laid in her box with some plastic bottle tops like she used to play fetch with. May all pets lost be given the respect and honor they deserve from us. They can bring solace to an unbearable time when nothing else can. 4me keep your kitty safe and comfortable, the winter weather can bring them down quickly. NITE OWL will be a little quieter and sadder for a few days. Gonna vote early and hope to still be in The USA and not the SSOA.

Nah, not even watching the stuff 4me I have no way to decide the outcome as a legal voter. We Feel good that the kitty is sealed in a 18x14x11 2x12 box silicone sealed painted as black as she was wrapped in about two yards of concrete till the end of time. took a lot of work but she will be safe from any scavengers. Never be another like that one. NITE OWL is going to shower and sleep Be safe all talkers 4me I am going to drink about three highball 151s tomorrow night and just eat a bowl of Minestrone with Club crackers. gotta see the eyeball checker tomorrow AM. Yeah cats are sometimes moody, and are more like people than dogs, they will love you and they will still scratch you when you make them mad. They play by their rules and not yours unless it suits them. This one was like a naughty grandchild. Thanks dudhud sorry to hear of yours passing they are sometimes our solace in times of need. My uncle died at 92 his old tomcat was a steadfast reserved ally for many years, they fought over the recliner. The cat died two days after my uncle and his son had the cat cremated and buried them together. If a cat owns you you have a friend. NITE ALL OWLS. Be safe and happy while you can.

Going to a better place I hope? Hard to move, We got another and it is hard just to get a place ready. I told the wife she had better outlive me because the house will fall down otherwise. I am happiest in a slab cabin in the woods with a steam to bathe in and get my food and water from the small game the deer, and the fish. Grow some tomatoes, potatoes, an apple tree, pear tree and use a car alternator on a waterwheel or a washer motor stator to power the LED light in the cabin. Firewood with a teepee style roof to cook and heat. Open top and flaps for cooling. I do like the propane to light the fires though, better than a magnifying glass and tinder unless you want to constantly make charcoal powder in a sealed tin. You know all this stuff. It is so simple and seems so safe outside of the city. Need anything my friend PM. NITE OWL calls and the Sandman is coming early with all of this working on things.
