Mag254 recording facility

I recorded three programs on my subscription Mag254 but when I tried to record another program it said that I had no storage allowance left.
Didn't think I would get much storage space on the Mag so thought I could download films and record them to a memory stick, but not sure how to do it, can anybody give me some advice please?

I use the composite cords connected to DVD recorder!!

There doesn't seem to be any sort of guidance on how to use the Mag254 save from the enclosed original two page paperwork, so it's all been trial and error for me. I tried to download a movie from one of the movie channels and it's still downloading from last night so not sure if it is recording or not, but am recording it onto a memory stick, which I placed in the usb slot on the front of the box, then went into the film and pressed the download (yellow Button).
But if anybody knows where I can find a definitive guide as to how to use the Mag254 I and many other would really be grateful

there are guides for all aspects of the Mag receiver, all except the recording end of it.
