Newbie and stumped

I have a subscription Mag254 but plugged it in and it finds my Internet but will not connect. I went to System Settings and into Network, highlighted the Wireless option, and then Auto (DHCP) and it shows my Internet connection, which I enter and I get the screen that shows my SSID etc, however the bottom option says Key or passphrase which I assume is my Internet password but how do I input the password when I cannot see what is coming up when pressing the remote control numbers and letters, so how do I know what I am inputting?
My password is a combination of letters and numbers but as I cannot see what is being typed in how do I overcome this problem?

Please ignore the above I have now got my brains in order and figured out what I was doing wrong, phew all working ok now
