mag 254 how to update firmwear

hello after doing a default setting i tried to do a softwear update but keep getting wrong signature is that because of the url in the update settings heres whats is in there

ok sorry about that yes i was in the inner portal and when i try a software update it trys but comes up wrong signature and my current version is 0 and the new version says it is 218.

does it have something to do with that url.

That looks like the right url, but someone last night was having trouble using it also. Try this while in the inner portal ::


Go to "Settings" and go to "Auto update software" and make sure "Auto update" is enabled, if not change it now and press "OK" to save. Leave update to beta versions off. This will periodically check for updates online and install them as needed for you. You can press the green button (F2) now if you wish to manually update, or it will update after you reboot later. Exit back out to "Settings" now.

when i try to update from inner portal a box pops up it says
current version. 0
description. factroy image
date. n/a
and when i hit theF1 key to update it just says wrong signature

Okay Don..just did this on my box...in outer portal go to settings>scroll down to inner portal, ok>scroll to settings, ok> go to system settings and scroll down to update software..make sure you have chosen HTTP in top box, then ok to verify, then F1 to update, box will reboot automatically when finished

the wrong signature comes up above the update status bar ,i do not know why my current version says 0 and the new version say 0.2.18-r10-254

It just worked fine for me, Don, don't know what to tell ya other than go to infomir and put the files on a USB stick..

hi did another default setting reset still the same the box still works ok just can not update it was working before i did the default setting ,now when it boots no image on loadiing ,in tne inner portal under server then more the update url is empty not sure if had address in there before i did a default settings

before when booting it showed a tv france logo

try this simple thing, might help.

Disconnect the Ethernet or turn off wifi if running wifi.
Disconnect the power.
Disconnect any USB devices connected.

Reconnect the power and let it boot up.
Reconnect Ethernet.
Check results.

tried with out any luck the box works ok just can not update ,keep getting wrong signature erro on updateing.

I don't know what the tv france logo looks like so need to ask, did you buy this from infomir? Asking because they do sell stbs to companies that have modified software, or so the website says. If the stb is a modified version it may never update.

hi yes bought it from another company here when it booted up a tv france logo showed up saying loading from nand then loading from image with another tv france logo then to menue but it was updating before i did a default setting in the bios,now it boots blue screen saying loading from nand then to the checking image and that second tv france logo is shown,it still works ok but when i try a update it gives that wrong signature error.i email the place where i bought it in montreal they might have added the tv france stuff because it came with a 30 day trial of tv france.

You might try booting from NAND2...it's worth a shot..

When you go to the update menu what is the setting for the update site? When you go to the inner portal - settings - servers - more you should have two lines the second and thir filled as follows, second should say igmp://224.50.0.50:9000 third should say igmp://224.50.0.51:9001 .

You tried what??, unclear, are you saying you did try booting from NAND2??

yes tried nand 2 and the two addresses mention above,thinking of tring update by usb stick

okay, wish you good luck..think you need to contact your seller..JMO

Contacting your seller or usb loading is what it seems to need. If you do try to load recovery files through usb make sure there will be no interruption while transferring. A power glitch or static spark could ruin the stb. You will most likely get 2 tries but might not..

I did some reading the other night about usb loading and you need to format your usb and have directories on there just as it says to, follow it to a t.

Or, you could leave it as it is since it's working- just a thought

the thing is it should not boot to France logo and you cant do a factory reset then i would send it back or call them they could have set something up in bios

Bios is fine asft, just seems like it has custom software in both nand sections. Factory default took it back to the core software. Custom software would have to have custom updates, or need over-written by stock firmware.

ok guys thanks for all the help,i will contact the place where i bought it I think they were the ones that added that tv France image ,maybe by doing that default setting took something out ok again thanks
