I have two MAG254 boxes, one here & one in another house in a city near me. I have 10MB internet here, & 15mb on the other box in the other city. The problem is, they both freeze even though one has a higher DL speed than the other one. No one uses the internet in the 15MB house & yet the box tends to freeze. Is there something wrong with the boxes? Do they need something installed to minimize freezing or how do i avoid it? Thanks

Be more specific provide channel details and time of buffering. Even though your paying for 15 mb you may be receiving less. IF your using a router it will also decrease the speed. Try connecting ach box directly to the modem let us know the results. Again the more info you provide the better the feedback and the service

The 10MB box is directly connected & isn't running on wifi. But we can't look up pages on the computer without it starting to freeze.
Buffering doesn't take long, except there are periods where channels will take awhile to load & I have to restart the Mag254 because it reaches a point where it wont' load at all. It's better in the mornings and gets worse at night. We try to watch the Hispanic channels or the kids channel and they'll freeze.
Does the box need 10MB just for it? Because we tend to have people who surf the web when they're doing homework or watch a video occasionally and it causes freezing. I've read that with 10-15MB the box will run smoothly for the most part.

When it's freezing do a speed test at 10mb you should be able to run other things at the same time but i know some isp's that short change people just saying.cause freezing when others use computer in the house has nothing to do with the server

sounds to me like you're falling short in the bandwidth dept. if comp use is affecting your viewing. keep in mind that bandwidth and speed are two different entities.

Could very well be a saturated line, call your isp provider have them run test on your internet.

Please quit using speed as a reason for telling people that it could be there internet as this post directly from them tells you the speed you need to run it!

My mag254 is freezing like rocker12,It looks like it happens to a few people. While watching cnn it will run for awhile then freeze and will come back(usually) when I reboot the box.Sometimes after it freezes I am unable to use the remote to change the channel so I have to reboot it.I will try what pork chop did and see if it helps. Thanks pork chop.

Internet speed is not the cause of freezing/buffering, I have Rogers Internet speed over 75mbps and it was working fine before now every evening with MAG254 -NFPS Server it is terrible freezing every few seconds and especially in the evening at peak hours viewing time. This is on going problem and no solution so far. Most of the Freezing/Buffering happens in the evening at peak hours, I wonder if the NFPS server bandwidth gets choked or crowded.

The only way to stop this from happening is to unplug your box. :(:(

Yeah... I have Google fiber people and still freezes a couple of times a day in the hours between 5pm and 12am. So we can't blame the internet on this one. Something happening on their end, will it get fixed? Well I guess time will tell, is like asking if we are going to get HD channels.... Blah blah..

U MUST BE KIDDING, this was the lying lure that they used to catch the watching public then watch us gripe and cuss and have other keep saying "its on your end"

Mine works great on only 5 megs except in evening prime time, just like everyone else. Just accept the fact that it's caused by user overload on the servers and no point even turning it on 6 - 11PM ET. Still works great any other time so cost/benefit ratio makes it well worth it anyway. Get your entertainment from any other of a myriad of sources in that time period. To fix it they either cut down users or get more and better servers/hosting. Nothing we can do.

Thank everyone for their input in this post. Until I hear from the our iptv provider I will assume their is nothing wrong with my Mag 254 and it's freezing and assume the problem is at it their end.

If your Internet connection is not stable , you can increase the size of "Buffer size". This will reduce the incidence of " freezing " the picture caused by the lack of speed, but will increase the time to switch between channels . Do not increase more than 2 seconds - if 1 or 2 does not deal with more value will also be fine , but will have bad side effects (hard switching ) . In this case you can increase the speed of the Internet

at the same time the 254 freezes, roku runs smoothly
@NAUDITOR: ...watch us gripe and cuss and have other keep saying "its on your end"
No one is saying it's at your end. They admit there are issues and they're working on them. Granted, it's not as fast as any of us would like, but your allegation is false and is just griping for the sake of griping.
