can I connect

I am completely new to IPTV so sorry if I am asking the ridiculous or something common knowledge to others....

At the moment I can watch video from my PC directly to my tv via dlna.

My question is....can I watch files from my PC via the MAG 254 on my tv using the MAG as a media player?

I have tried adding the MAG to my 'homegroup' but this doesn't seem to work.

Am I doing something wrong or am I asking the impossible?

I don't have shares setup on my network but see home media connects to nfs/smb shares only. I typed in my pc address and it never had an error, so assume it could connect if I had shares available to it.
