so i bought an avov tvonline box a few months ago. so far there is really nothing good to say at all about avov. i had to pay for two rmas at 20$ a pop and neither time was it my fault. besides that the fact that everything has to come from their micky hop store is proving to be a real pain. anyways besides all the down falls of this box im trying to make it somewhat useful to the person im giving it to. so i wanted to put a nice kodi build on it. simplicity by genietv to be exact. pretty much after i get genietv installed as an addon and go to install simplicity or any of the builds in genietv the box fails at about 55% of the download. these builds work flawless on my pcs, phone, and android box. their facebook group has thousands of users that use these builds on everything even the cheapest lil sticks can run this. this leads me to think that avov either isnt giving us a 100% legit kodi or they are moding the android system itself so that build fails. so am i pretty much stuck with basic kodi or tvmc? to turn basic kodi into simplicity would be impossible to do manually so im not willing to go that route. if its possible to add kodi builds on an avov box please name the ones and ill check them out but genietv with simplicity are by far the best ive seen and the whole reason im giving this box away for free.

The OP doesn't like the real kodi he want to put a remake kodi for dummys and blame Avov for only using the original

If the "build" is just a wizard add-on to configure the Kodi install, then yeah the Kodi can be customized. If the build is an .apk, I guess you can try to get the Android OS onboard to recognize it, and then install it, but the skin isn't designed for you to access it. Avov is selling a customized android experience, just like Amazon with their various builds for their products. Nothing wrong with that, but it would bother people who want to do their own thing.

My question to the OP, is... Why bother? Just get a generic rooted box, and you can do almost anything you want with your builds.

big dady ummm no i want the real kodi. kodi for dummies is tvmc that avov first put on the boxes. i want to actually be able to do something with kodi so i can give this box away for free to someone that has never used kodi and isnt ever gonna learn all about kodi. after looking more into this the problem has nothing to do with avov putting stock kodi the problem is avov puts the littlest hardware they can get away with. this box has a dual core cpu with only 512mb of ram. thats the very bare bones to run kodi. once you start adding addons this box locks up not stop and putting a build just doesnt happen. the only app on this box is kodi and it only has a lil over 100mb of free ram. i should of looked at specs a little more before buying the box. the only reason i bought was to try it out because a lot of family members wanted "a box". these forums go on and on about how easy avov boxes are compared to all the other boxes so i thought it would be best for them. i already have a mxiii that i got for 60$ brand new. it has a quadcore cpu and 2 gigs of ram. thats 4x the amount the tvonline has that sells for 100$. this 60$ box simply does way more than any avov box can and setting it up is in no way shape or form harder than avov. i can go on and on about why i dislike avov. i had to rma the box twice because this box can not update over the internet. twice now they come out with an update and the only way to fix my box is updateing through usb. thats something did once for me but the last time they made me send the box to them to do it. the other rma was due to the box shorting out a week after having it. both times i had to pay 20$ to ship it. i can give many reasons why im not happy with this box but i was just wondering if there was any way i could make this 100$ box somewhat as useful as a 60$ box or even a cheap 30$ box. since the nvidia shield will be 100$ off for black friday im gonna go ahead and get that for myself and give the mxiii away for free. looking at avovs site i see now they have 4 boxes and they all have 1 gig of ram. pretty sad that 2 gigs+ is standard even with the cheap china boxes.
