Channel Number changs

Did anyone notice that this morning several channels changed numbers. CBS New York used to be the first channel in the guide with channel# 2. It is now channel # 8830. After the change the first channel in the guide is ITV channel 78. Whats up with the changes ?

Since the new numbering, maybe they are using the local numbers of Dish instead of the over the air numbers, that is to say making prep for additional channels -- really, really, hope so.
