What happens when I update my Firestick firmware?

So I just went out and bought a Firestick yesterday after finding out about IPTV and what not. I've set it all up to work nicely with Kodi, IPTV Stalker & iVue TV Guide but what happens to Kodi or FireStarter if the Firestick ever gets an update pushed from Amazon? Is it recommended to disable automatic updates? Cheers!

The updated normally do not affect the installed applications. Leave the updates on.
